The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has urged local council chairmen in the nation’s capital city to stay within their jurisdictions and improve their areas.
The former Rivers State Governor issued the warning on Wednesday at Yangoji, where he launched the construction of an 11-kilometer rural road that will connect Sukuku Ebo and Yangoji communities in the Kwali Area Council.
“Continue to stay at home. Don’t come to the city frequently. Stay and do the work. My role is to support you.
“If you don’t do well for rural communities, you will create problems for the city,” he said.
According to the Minister the FCT Administration is ready to work with chairmen of FCT area councils with the aim of driving development in rural areas.
Specifically, Wike promised to complete all abandoned projects in the Abaji and other area councils, stressing that era of abandoned projects was over.
He said: “We are touching rural areas to renew their hope because they have suffered years of abandonment.
“This is your time to benefit. If we don’t take care of rural areas, then we have failed as a government.”
