The Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke, has approved the recruitment of five thousand teachers and two hundred fifty education officers.
The decision to hire the instructors was made during the weekly State Executive Council meeting on Wednesday.
The teachers will be recruited to replace gaps in the state teaching service, according to a statement made after the meeting and signed by the spokesperson for Osun State Governor Olawale Rasheed on Wednesday.
Recall that the Ademola Adeleke administration upon assumption of office on November 27, 2022 sacked the 1500 teachers newly recruited by the Adegboyega Oyetola administration.
The sacking of the teachers was undertaken by Governor Adeleke through an Executive Order.
The governor also revealed that his administration would set up a review committee which would come out with a White Paper.
Also, the state Commissioner for Education, Dipo Eluwole, had in an interactive session with journalists in 2022, revealed that the state was ready to recruit new teachers into the state’s public schools.
Eluwole had revealed that the state was planning to convoke an education summit at which recommendation would be implemented.
According to the statement, “The Council noted that the approval for the recruitment of teachers follows the conclusion of the need assessment which the Governor ordered last year.
“The Council directed that the Ministry of Education should fast track the process of recruitment to strengthen the education system.”
